October 2018: Call for World Zero Evictions Days for the Right to Housing, to the City and to the Territory
Throughout the month of October, popular initiatives are planned in many countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, which will culminate in the International Meeting for Egalitarian Cities (Buenos Aires, October 28-31 2018), parallel to the meeting of local authorities Urban 20. On that occasion, there will be a session to monitor the implementation of the Recommendations of the International Tribunal on Evictions on the case of evictions caused by the tourist industry of the popular district of La Boca. At the end, on the World Day for the Right to the City, there will be a debate between social organizations and local authorities that have signed the Municipal Declaration for the Right to Housing and the City.

The International Meeting for Equal Cities
will take place from October 28 to 31 in the city of Buenos Aires, linked to the World Zero Evictions Days and the World Day for the Right to the City.
It will include a series of activities such as a cultural event, a workshop on the right to the city and thematic panels on urban inequalities, the care of common goods, feminist urbanism, the future of work, the integration of migrants and refugees,the role and the challenges of intermediate cities and subnational financing.
During the Meeting there will be an Assembly of social movements and a roundtable with progressive mayors from different cities of the world. Likewise, there will be a collective position document to be presented before the Urban20.
Declaration on the World Day for the Right to the City
On the occasion of the World Day for the Right to the City, the Global Platform for the Right to the City stands in solidarity with the victims of and resistance to urban development driven by neoliberal policies, in particular against forced evictions, and launches a strong appeal to local and national governments and the UN to implement the Right to the City as a collective path to build just, inclusive, peaceful and sustainable cities for all.

The objective is the construction of another possible world starting from the achievement of the housing and city rights.
